Santa Monica Place celebrates the hottest season with the coolest free events at the Summer Scene @ The Place block party. Held on select weekends in June, July and August, the beachside
shopping center will host great live music, outdoor sports and fitness
activities, art, kid’s events and of course, lots of fun in the sun
bringing the classic summer celebration to new heights.
JUNE 7 -8 (SUMMER BLOCK PARTY KICK-OFF)
- SURFSET® Fitness workouts throughout the day help surfers and beachgoers alike stay in shape to ride the waves
- Master sand artists creating sculptures showcasing Santa Monica’s hot spots
- Face painting and “beachy” craft stations for kids
- Summer Beauty stations featuring Carlton Hair (stylists applying Charmsies); Bloomingdale's (hosting a mini-Beach Beauty Lounge) and Exhale Spa (will have a complimentary polish station)
- Live Entertainment featuring DJ Beats and a Saturday night concert (6:00 p.m. –
9:00 p.m.) with The Beach Toys
- SwimSpot will be showcasing the perfect summer fashions and hosting a $100 enter-to-win shopping spree
June 7
Santa Monica Place welcomes CBCDaily.com and their non-profit charity partner, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), to help raise money for children cancer research. Starting at 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on June 7, volunteers will be providing cups of lemonade and collecting donations. ALSF
is named for Alexandra “Alex” Scott who died from in 2004 after
battling childhood cancer. At the age of 4, she announced that she
wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for
all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the
Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of volunteers across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, ALSF
have raised more than $80 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of
finding a cure and funding over 450 research projects nationally. For

Santa Monica Place will host Make Music Los Angeles (MMLA)
with a line-up of talented musicians (from various music genres)
on-stage for a full day of free concerts. Santa Monica Place is one of
the featured locations MMLA in Los Angeles County to host this music event. MMLA is based on France’s FĂȘte de la Musique;
a national musical holiday – recognized on the Summer Solstice (June
21) – was inaugurated in 1982. The non-profit organization engages all
communities of Los Angeles
in an annual cross-cultural celebration of the power of music and art
to enrich lives through education and musical performances in
neighborhoods across the county. MMLA
takes place simultaneously with similar festivities in more than 700
