In-Between Christmas & New Year's Eve & Day, Hang Out at Princess Diana Exhibit at Santa Monica Place Mall Then It Tours.

 By Laura Medina

As anyone who watched or is still watching Netflix's "The Crown," especially Season 4, we all know that Princess Diana never received that much love from Prince Charles or the Royal Family.

Realizing she was always the outsider among a bunch of insiders, Diana had to look outside her marriage for love, acceptance, and affection then she found them, ten times, from commoners who needed it as much as she does.

This is where the Princess Diana Exhibit tour rolls in.

The royal photographers show not only glamorous icon photos, but included audio notes and stories behind the photos.

Diana was very a woman of her times.

He was wanted to show her in '80's and '90's athleisure, working out, keeping her figure fit, away from the bulima of her marriage and the pressure of the spotlight.

Since she received love and affection from the public, she ushered in the tactile touch of velvet, which usually comes in black, there by busting the ban on black.

She also doffed off away hats, saying nobody can touch anyone with an hat.

She busted royal tradition by wearing a crown as an headband.

Princess Diana was the Approachable Princess, broke the mold to set a new standard for following prinesses, such as Kate, Duchess of Cambridge and Meghan.

 By Laura Medina

His faithful and loyal partner and business partner, Patrik Simpson, sat with him to discuss their Amazon Prime reality show, "Gown and Out in Beverly Hills," and cultural history being made here in his atelier, where in the back, Pol personally sews made-to-order gowns for pop cultural icons, such as the bigger than life, Anna Nicole Smith.

Pol even sewn her funeral gown.  Imagine a thousand years from now, archaeologists will discover that creation then treat it as a museum treasure.  Pol was overtaken when he realizes his pop culture creation and contribution will be history, in a constructive and positive way.

Pol, as an haute couture designer, commented that being an haute couture designer is like being a psychologist/therapist, where you get to hear insecurities and anticipated anxieties leading up to award shows and premieres while camouflaging flaws.  It's all about building up self-esteem and self=confidence while accentuating the positive.

Which leads up to their Amazon Prime reality show, "Gown and Out in Beverly Hills," that ensure the worries, the anxieties, the wants, the desires, the approaching deadlines, with the chaos, the pressures, and the craziness involved.  In the second season, viewers get to see behind closed doors and at-home dramas and on-the-job shenanigans.  See, you all get a real reality show.

Being pro-Beverly Hills and a proud Los Angeleno, Pol says forget New York and come to Beverly Hills to see and watch real fashion and a real fashion show.

If you want something a little bit naughty and all frothy fun, watch Patrik and Pol in "Gown and Out in Beverly Hills" on Amazon Prime.

Tired of Turkey, Give a Gift of Mico Tequila Instead.

 By Laura Medina

https://www.micotequila.com/#1

Hosted by Manhattan Beach's Esperanza's upscale Mexican fried filet mignon and shrimp tacos buffet, Mico Tequila did a tasting of its tequila, proving there are different types of tequila.

The tequila everyone is familiar with is the basic and the lightest and always in a margarita, Blanco Tequlia.  Crafted in small batches with only three essential ingredients: Water, 100% Blue Weber Agave + time. The expression opens on a floral nose + finishes with ripe natural agave characteristics.

The medium MICO Reposado is aged in American Oak whiskey barrels then finished in Napa Valley Cabernet barrels to create warm vanilla notes that marry with the tequila’s natural agave edge. The result is a Tennessee-inspired finish that doesn’t forget its Jalisco roots.

The deepest and the darkest, Mico Extra Anejo is aged in ex-Kentucky Bourbon barrels and then finished off in  premium Cabernet Barrels from for  an average of 44 months at 42% ABV.

"Tennis, Anyone?" Play with Saie Beauty.

 By Laura Medina

Beauty comes from the inside, or radiates from within.

Nobody epitomizes this than Saie Beauty.

Emerging out of the quarantine cocoon, Saie Beauty emphasizes health and wellness, a stark and striking contrasting difference to throwing big parties and big bashes by fashion and other beauty companies of yore, pre-COVID 19.

Don't fret,  big, decadent, and wild fashion and beauty parties are returning with  a vengeance since people are chomping at the bits, after being so isolated for so long.

But, Saie Beauty is zagging when everyone is zigging.

During their first promotional tour, they promoted clean fuel with a Saie Floral "Beauty" Truck that uses bio-fuel during their LA tour.

Now, they're back but going nationwide with various fitness events that align with each individual city.

In Nashville, they're doing line dancing classes.  In New York and Miami, they're throwing conventional yoga classes and paddle boarding.

In the shadows of Warners Bros. Studios, Saie Beauty threw a silly dilly beginner's tennis class where you work up a sweat, burning calories to make room for Thanksgiving.

After learning the backhand, the forearm, volley, and the double backhand with lavender Saie Beauty tennis balls, guests get appropriate Saie Beauty makeup matching the activity.

The "Tennis, Anyone," guests receive Saie Beauty's sunscreen, Sunvisor, to wear for the next tennis match, in a reward goody bag of a Saie Beauty water bottle, a boxed H2O to sip during class and a lavender towel to mop up the sweat, all in cute Saie Beauty tote.

The tennis rackets Saie Beauty supplied, is also a goody gift to the guests.

There ain't nothing like being rewarded with clean, efficient beauty after sweating it out.

The new party but don't the old parties, of yore, are still here and returning with a bang.

New York Magazine's Vulture Festival is Back with Hulu's "The Great" with "The Great-est Panel You Ever Seen" with Elle Fanning & Nicholas Hoult.

 By Laura Medina

Now that Bridgerton is already established, here's something that fans of Hulu's "The Great" already know, "The Great" is a naughty nugget of eye candy treat based on the tumultuous arranged marriage between Russia's Catherine the Great and the mercurial Emperor Peter.  In other words, it's a period costume comedy of a "f*ck & fight" based on gender roles and gender power in ruling a nation.

Nicholas went on how important food is in "The Great" as a subtle passive-aggressive form of mental torture and how decadent cuisine represents the Russian court.

Due to the long hours under the hot lights, Elle was disappointed they had to use fake ice cream made out of lard, so they won't melt but craft service did gave her real ice cream as relief to a long day and night of shooting the opulent comedy.

Both Elle and Nicholas discussed about the scrumptious costumes and how they affect their acting and movement.

Elle did say, even during the Rococo Period when Catherine was pregnant enough to give her a more comfortable Empire higher, looser waist line, women at the time still have to wear a corset since bras weren't invented yet.  Women back then, still have to wear corsets to give them shape.

As any "The Great" fans know, the gender-dependent period costumes form the basis of the naughty sex jokes, sexual frustrations, and gender power plays running this married couple.

Nicholas mentioned cunnilingus in an episode that Vulture Festival aired during the panel.  Even Elle blushed when she found out that her mom is a big fan of the show and loves it when the two protagonists "f&ck & fight."  That's the dynamics of the show.

Both Elle and Nicholas also talked about the importance of historical makeup plays in the series.

In the effort to pale their complexion to show that these elites don't do manual labor out in the sun, people wore mercury foundation that eats away at the skin.  To hide the mercury scars, the actors said that people have to wear black velvet decorative patches as fancy faux moles.

"The Great" is a juicy, decadent treat.

Puma Blue is Gen-Z's Relaxing Chill Pill.

 By Laura Medina

In the wake of the Travis Scott's Astroworld Festival chaotic tragedy, Jacob Allen aka Puma Blue, proves that there's more to Gen-Z music scene than Travis Scott.

Puma Blue's El Rey Theater concert was civilized and chilled.

The mostly Gen-Z audience was just gently grooving and swaying to Puma Blue's easy chords, like soft, rolling waves.

The audience wasn't seeking fist-pumping beats, no mosh pits.  More than anything, they view Puma Blue as a respite from all that chaotic mess that dominated Astroworld Festival.

Puma Blue's concert was well-contained then the audience returned the respect back.

Puma Blue proves there's more to Gen-Z than uncontrolled energy.  He was peaceful where Gen-Z use him to get their soul back.

A gentle nod is all you need.

All Treats, No Tricks, Disco Dining Club's Blade Runner Halloween.

 By Laura Medina

Held in the historical Bradbury Building, infamously known as the "Blade Runner" building, that Eighties New Wave Noir Sci-Fi Thriller, it's fitting that Disco Dining Club did a "Blade Runner" theme dinner is influenced by what people in the near future are doing to eat and what utensils are going to be used, that they set the new table setting...

The fork and knife is replaced with chopsticks and spoon at top 12 o' clock of the plate...

With Asian cuisine accepted as the norm, the Blade Runner dinner started with the crowd-pleasing fried Pork and Shrimp dumplings...

The main entree is another crowd-pleasing Crab Sesame Ramen Noodles...

This futurist Black Sesame Panna Cotta is more a refreshing palette cleanser than a finishing sweet note, denoting that overly sugary sweet desserts, are a thing of the past.

Disco Dining Club's "Blade Runner" themed Halloween feast is more treat than trick.

Eighties' New Wave "Blade Runner" pole dancers provided entertainment.

The night finished with a futurist Asian opera singer/drag performer.

All treats, no tricks, with Disco Dining Club.

The Hu, Rock Transcend Culture, Borders, Mountains, and Oceans. It's the Rock Spirit That Counts.

 By Laura Medina

True and real spirit of Rock knows no color, face, border, nationality, language, or culture.

It's the exuberance, the spirit, and the soul that pours out of the pores, from within.

In a short five years, The Hu, Mongolian for "Human Being," they've proven they're Rock while incorporating traditional Mongolian mountain throat singing while showing traditional Mongolian horse fiddle, the two-string Mongolian guitar, and Jaw Harp as contemporary instruments as electric Horse Fiddle and electric Mongolian guitar, just as powerful and electrifying as any electric Western guitar and bass.

Having that true Rock spirit does not lie and can't be faked.

In a short but intense five years, The Hu has gained such a loyal fan following, that a Californian fan had followed them to their two-nights concert in Paris.  That's hard core.

What's really cool, The Hu aren't cultural or racial or ethnic stereotypes in order to promote Mongolian culture.  The Hu are real, showing and promoting current and real Mongolian interests, incorporating and updating traditional Mongolian music and culture for the 21st-century. Yes, Mongolians love Rock then they successfully incorporate it with traditional Mongolian instruments and throat singing.  Who would had thought the guttural Mongolian throat singing would be a great fit for Rock and Heavy Metal?

If The Hu represents today's contemporary Mongolia, doing collaborations with today's highly esteemed rockers, such as Papa Roach,...

Then, The Hu providing songs and soundtrack to Star Wars: Jedi, Fallen Order, shows them as the future of Rock transcending across the universe, planets, space, and time.

True rock fans don't give a damn about image or looks; and they know a poser, when they see one.

The Hu aren't posers.  Because of that, their Rock spirit may come on as strong to the pop,  the uninitiated, ignorant, and uninterested.  But, true Rockers can't be fooled.  They know the real deal when they sense it.

The Hu, remember is Mongolian for "Human Being," is the real deal; and they have a legion of rocker fans that span globally.

The Hu is pure Rock spirit.

French Gin, G'Vine Gin, From Cognac.

 By Laura Medina

The founder's son talked about how this wine grape gin came about, when his dad started gathering grape flowers to make gin twenty years ago.  Something so unheard of before, that the cops questioned his dad, "Is he collecting flowers to make perfume for L'Oreal?"

No. He was a cognac distiller switching to make gin in French wine country.

His G'Vine Gin is now one of the most popular gin brands in Spain, one of the biggest gin guzzlers.

G'Vine Gin is a wine grape-based gin made with juniper.  Gin can be made with anything, as long it includes juniper.

Los Angeles-based sommelier concocting that night's orange-essence martini.

G'Vine Gin is like the gin version of Ciroc.  Wine grape sweet and thick yet so easy to gulp, on ice.

Gin is trending this year, such as Spain's Nordes' Gin, https://luxurist.blogspot.com/2021/08/the-last-of-summers-wine-and-gin-nordes.html

Stefanos Makrymichailos, president of IYC, operator of the world’s largest charter yacht fleet, mentioned that Los Angeles and Beverly Hills make up 35% to 45% of their accounts.

It took a long time to set foot here, with Magellan Jets, but they finally set up an office in Southern California.

Private travel has seen an unprecedented rise in volume this year, and private aviation in particular is set for its busiest quarter in history. That’s why Magellan Jets, the leader in private aviation solutions, and IYC, operator of the world’s largest charter yacht fleet, are strongly encouraging private travelers to get their winter getaways booked as soon as possible—and teaming up to entice them with top Caribbean destinations that showcase the best the region has to offer.

Magellan Jets and IYC have been building their partnership over the past two years, focused on creating seamless, exclusive, and unforgettable travel experiences for their clients. Through Magellan, guests have access to over 50 bucket-list destinations, 15 countries, 20 private islands, 450 private villas, 125 yachts, and 25 luxury hotels. Turning to the Caribbean, which travelers typically visit between November and April, Magellan and IYC are featuring five destinations that are perfect for escaping the cold, gloomy winter weather:

The US Virgin Islands - The US Virgin Islands are a paradise of white sands and blue seas teeming with colorful marine life—and sophisticated dining and shopping opportunities on land. The island of St. John is a protected national park ideal for hiking and snorkeling. With stunning trails, lush vegetation, and beautiful beaches, it is a must-see, and traveling there by private charter yacht is the best way to beat the crowds.

The British Virgin Islands -  Here, the temperature rarely dips below 78°F, which makes these islands a great remedy for the winter blues. BVI offers hundreds of options for sailing, filled with countless coves, reefs, and stunning beaches. The largest island, Tortola, is perfect for adventure-seekers, with breathtaking Sage Mountain overflowing with exotic birds and hiking trails. Guests can even tour sugar plantations and rum distilleries to get a true taste of island life.

St Barts – This island is perhaps the most exclusive in the entire Caribbean. Offering the very best in gastronomy, parties, shopping, regattas, beaches, and more, Saint Barthélemy (better known as St. Barts) is a true paradise. Streets lined with designer boutiques give guests the chance to literally shop ‘til they drop, and the local nightlife is something of legend. Around New Year’s Eve, the island brims with exclusive parties and celebrity faces. After chartering around the islands, guests can spend a night on land with a luxury villa from Magellan Jets’ partners at St. Barths Properties.

St. Maarten – This intriguing island has two distinct personalities, owing to its split French and Dutch ownership. Guests here can experience that vibrant mixture of cultures, which is more than matched by the island’s diverse scenery. Packed with vibrant nightlife, lively casinos, enchanting carnivals, and gourmet cuisine, the island is sure to please any palate. Begin your trip in Simpson Bay, a sheltered lagoon that plays host to the most luxurious superyachts.

St. Vincent and The Grenadines –Private locations, volcanic landscapes, and stunning reefs define these islands, known as a legendary sailing destination. It’s known as the “critter capital of the Caribbean”—whether guests choose to dive or snorkel, they will encounter diverse marine life like seahorses, octopi, frogfish, and manta rays. Visit Kingstown on the largest island, and explore the other 30 islands’ endless beaches and upmarket boutiques.

Wherever travelers choose to go to escape the winter blues this year, IYC and Magellan have them covered. Both companies look forward to bringing their guests exclusive experiences with the highest degree of service excellence.

Since it's Fall and people are chomping at the bits to go travel, Magellan Jets and IYC threw a mini fashion show with Chervo's Fall Winter 2021 collection...

How's Your Saturday Night? From SU Magazine Cover Release Runway Show to Beauty School Dropout.

 By Laura Medina

Los Angeles Fashion Week is emerging out of the ashes from COVID-19 quarantine.

The sure sign of it was SU Magazine's Cover Release party and runway show at Avalon in Hollywood.

Sean Combs' son, Christian Combs and Brody Jenner DJed as the models strut their stuff on the catwalk.

The evening started with SU Magazine's Cover Release party and fashion show but it ended with Beauty School Dropout at Winston House.

Despite their alternative-punk meets glitter rock image, they're pretty welcoming, friendly guys who invited this rock nerd scribe to go relax and chill with their friends and families while the band gets ready for their performance.

Once Beauty School Dropout hits the stage, the Gen-Z and Millennial audience jumped into a mosh pit.

That's how rocking and slamming Beauty School Dropout is.

Beauty School Dropout is a fresh drop of fresh blood that alternative rock needs.

Beauty School Dropout may be fresh enough to just formed a year ago, but they have experience as a previous incarnation as Strangefaces.

That means, with fresh energy meets on-the-floor experience, Beauty School Dropout is ready to rock.

Los Angeles-based three-piece BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT (BSD) deliver a seamless mixture of pop, alt-rock, punk and hip-hop with unbridled energy on their debut EP BOYS DO CRYreleased last Friday, October 8. The EP was executive produced by 4x Grammy Award-winning producer Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance) and Fever 333 vocalist Jason Aalon Butler, who also guests on the new single “I Love It,” which was officially added to SiriusXM Octane today (10/12), having initially premiered it on 10/7. Singles from BOYS DO CRY are also currently featured on several popular official streaming rock playlists from Spotify (‘Rock Hard,’ ‘Alt Scene,’ ‘FORYOU,’ ‘New Noise,’ ‘Rock This’) and Apple Music (‘Breaking Hard Rock,’ ‘New In Rock’).

The band--formed in 2020 by vocalist Cole Hutzler and bassist Brent Burdett, following the dissolve of their former alt-rock band Strangefaces, along with producer and guitarist Bardo--celebrated BOYS DO CRY’s release with a fiery sold-out hometown show at Winston House in Venice on Saturday night, 10/9. This marks their third sold-out Los Angeles show in the past year, with previous shows including Haven House (6/4) and Harvard & Stone (6/30). Earlier this year BSD were seen on a 22-date tour across the U.S. with Royal & The Serpents and Pvris, which they documented in the rousing music for their brazen single “Starphucker” featuring Royal & The Serpents. Watch it HERE.

BSD have developed a fervent fanbase garnered from their TikTok channel where they have over 900K views and are known for their series of videos covering current mainstream pop singles with their own ‘renegade rock’ take. The band’s cover of Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name) was even reposted by Lil Nas X himself on his social media pages. They’ve also attracted the attention of fellow notable musicians including Paris Jackson, Nessa Barrett and Loren Grey.
