For a $69 Day/Night Pass or an Hotel Room, You Can Party Like a Rock Star at W Hotels' Very Own "Wake Up Call" Music Festival, All Over the Globe.

By Laura Medina

The W Hotels' very own "Wake Up Call" Music Festival kicked off at their W Hollywood this past, recent Labor Day weekend.  What a way to kick off the holiday and the end of summer.

Kicking off over Labor Day weekend, WAKE UP CALL is the world’s first-ever hotel music festival series that will bring people closer to the music than ever before.

If Coachella kicked off Spring and Summer, then Wake Up Call signals the end of Summer.

To challenge the Airbnb economy, W Hotels is fighting back with the Coachella economy with it's very own version of a music festival, at it's highest order.

Obviously, after years of attending and studying various music festivals, W Hotels selected several hotels in its chain that can handle the party-hardy masses.

Like any other music festival, W Hotel started their Wake Up Call Music Festival small yet W Hotel luxurious...

WAKE UP CALL first debuted in 2016 at W Scottsdale as the world’s first music festival held exclusively at a hotel.

W Scottsdale’s line-up featured performances by Mike Posner, Bebe Rexha, Cee Lo Green (DJ set), De La Soul, Jess Glynne, Kungs, Lost Frequencies, Matoma, Mayer Hawthorne and Nico & Vinz.

More than just your typical festival, music lovers enjoyed a diverse schedule even after the music stopped, including afternoon pool parties at W Scottsdale’s WET pool deck; a morning FUEL fitness class with POUND®, the rockstar-inspired cardio drumming workout, complete with mimosas and pressed juice bar; Bliss Spa pop-ups with makeup and nail touchups; VIP Lounges; and so much more.

This year, W Hollywood was the first once to host this chain of music festivals.  The Wake Up Call Festival kicked off this recent Labor Day weekend at the W Hollywood.

Wake Up Call Music Festival cuts out the crap of logistical nightmare that is the headache of Coachella, that forces it to improve itself every year, being forced to book an overpriced, bed bug-ridden hotel to getting lost locating super-exclusive promotional pool parties to the traffic and icky port-a-lets.  Then, the cost of Coachella's general and VIP tickets.  No wonder, people leave it frustrated.

W Hotels' Wake Up Call Festival get rid of the logistical headaches and the nasty hygiene of music festivals in the middle of nowhere.  Plus, all the fun stuff and amenities of Wake Up Call is included in your hotel room when you book a room at any participating W Hotels throwing Wake Up Call Music Festival.

W is rewriting the rules of the festival experience – no long lines for the bathroom, no puddles of mud, no trying to hail an Uber in the middle of the desert.

W is reinventing the traditional music festival experience by having it all take place right in the luxe surroundings of a W Hotel.

W Hotels' chain of Wake Up Call Music Festivals stretch from W Hollywood thru W Barcelona to W Bali then to W Dubai next year I 2019.

The global music festival series is taking off upon a jetset tour around the world and is exclusively open to members of Marriott Rewards, which includes The Ritz-Carlton Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG). Dates as follows:
W Hollywood (Sept 1-3, 2018)
W Barcelona (Sept 21-23, 2018)
W Bali (Oct 4-6, 2018)

This recent Labor Day weekend edition of Wake Up Call at the W Hollywood pulled out all the stops and the little details that can make or break a festival then hold it to an higher bar.

Anyway, any guest staying at any W Hotel throwing a Wake Up Call Festival during festival dates, has open admission and access to the hotel's Wake Up Call Festival.  No general or VIP admission here.

Elite membership is not a requirement—by simply joining the program online guests can quickly gain access to everything WAKE UP CALL has to offer. When guests visit www.wakeupcallfest.com, existing members of either program can log in with their account information to get festival access; non-members can quickly sign up through SPG.

The WAKE UP CALL experience will go well beyond the music, serving up the W experience every step of the way. WAKE UP CALL combines the pre-party, the main event, and the post-party, all in one perk-filled package.

Festival revelers can expect everything from workout sessions with top fitness masters to exclusive dishes and cocktails created by W chefs and mixologists only for festival goers. On site at W Hollywood, guests can treat themselves to:

Dishes far beyond average festival fare. On-site options for bites and sips include Shake Shack burgers and fries, Veuve Cliquot bottles and cocktails served from an all-out pop-up Champagne Garden, oven-fresh pizzas from LA-favorite Stella Barra, in-room amenities from Milk Bar (ahead of their first LA shop coming in late September), bespoke fruit cart, customizable poke bowl station, additions to the hotel’s 24-hour in-room menu and access to all the decadent dining W Hollywood is known for year-round (Delphine, Brew Espresso, Living Room Bar, WET Deck Bar, Loft Bar).

FUEL classes with top trainers! W knows that guests like to detox before they retox, so as part of the brand’s FUEL program (the brand’s take on fitness and wellness), WAKE UP CALL features five classes spread across Saturday and Sunday. Each session is led by a fitness guru with a powerful combo of options including Y7 Yoga, boxing with Ashley Guarassi (former Creative Director of Rumble and Nike Master Trainer), spin and HIIT classes with Jason Wimberly (founder of THE WALL).

Pure pampering. Guests can book an appointment at Bliss Spa to wind down or gear up before or after the festival’s performances all without leaving W Hollywood.

What about the locals in those cities who want to celebrate the festival?

For a mere $69 per a day, the $69 pass covers the day DJ pool dance party, the late afternoon chill of live, intimate performances in the living room lobby, and the late night live concert of today or tonight's emerging vanguards in pop, with Phantogram and Charli XCX headlining.

Even when you pay $69  day passes for local residents and daytrippers, they're still entitled to:

Shake Shack burgers and fries, Veuve Cliquot bottles and cocktails served from an all-out pop-up Champagne Garden, oven-fresh pizzas from LA-favorite Stella Barra, bespoke fruit cart, customizable poke bowl station, additions to the hotel’s 24-hour in-room menu and access to all the decadent dining W Hollywood is known for year-round (Delphine, Brew Espresso, Living Room Bar, WET Deck Bar, Loft Bar).

FUEL classes with top trainers! W knows that guests like to detox before they retox, so as part of the brand’s FUEL program (the brand’s take on fitness and wellness), WAKE UP CALL features five classes spread across Saturday and Sunday.

Hotel guests and $69 day pass local daytrippers can book an appointment at Bliss Spa to wind down or gear up before or after the festival’s performances all without leaving W Hollywood.

Here's what to expect...

Real hotels have concierges.  W Hollywood's concierges are more than happy to point you in the right direction, whether picking up your $69 day to night passes for day-tripping, staycation locals or you're a legitimate hotel guest.  The festival concierges can pass out Wake Up Call's very currencies of meal tickets, each valuing $10 to booking you a FUEL fitness during the day, so you can retox to detox.

In between getting your passes or having your FUEL fitness class or classes booked, you can drop by and get free black coffee, hot or iced with a lot of cream in a tall, to go cup, at BREW, Wake Up Call's café.

By the time you checked in and grab a free coffee, folks at the check-in area will tell you to go upstairs, to the Loft, because the day pool party is starting and it's lunch time, where a burger and fries cost 2 Wake Up Call meal tickets ($20 in cash, oh don't worry, they also accept cash. To get exact change, you need cash.  They don't give change in meal tickets); or a $15 poke bowl (3 meal tickets) and a $10 fruit bowl (one meal ticket).

What used to be Drai's Hollywood (before it moved to Drai's Las Vegas) is now the Loft, an air-conditioned chill lounge, shielding you from the heat and UV rays while you lunch and snack on Shake Shack, Poke Bowl, and a refreshing, healthy huge bowl of fruit melons to hydrate you or hydrate your emerging hangover...why?

W Hollywood thinks of everything.  One of the sponsors is Patron Tequila and they have a blender bike that crush and whip your ice-filled glass of their margarita then whip it into a boozy, chill slushie.

The Patron Tequila Slushie lounge is only open during day time but the bourbon and tequila slushie bar is raging until 3am.

The devil is in the details.  The little things make or break the whole picture.  Ask anyone who "glamps" at Coachella and they'll tell ya' it's like camping,  whether you book a crappy motel or camping on the grounds itself.  You gotta buy a list of sunscreen, mints and hygiene.

No worries with W Hotels for its Wake Up Call Festivals around the world.  They have "Ask Me Anything" concierges standing at each stand with free use of sunscreen, gum, and booklet of map and performance schedules, facial wipes to wipe away the sweats, and hydration powder so you can keep on partying.

Free drinking water station from dusk to dawn, to relieve that hangover and sunstroke.

It's the simplest things that count.  This scribe fell in love the phone charging locker when you can safely lock your phone to be charged while you party, swim, drink, exercise, snack, chill, crush in your hotel room...doing whatever.  Don't worry.  No need to bring your own charger, W Hotel got you covered during the festival.

PhilNGood got a vocalist and a saxophonist during his DJ set over the pool.

If you're suffering Vitamin D heat stroke, chill out in the W Hollywood's living room where you can catch fresh, live performances, real singer and musicians belting out in a cool, intimated setting, courtesy of Billboard Magazine and W Hotel.

Directly outside the living room, you can regain your vitamin D in a more civilized atmosphere, away from the party-harty pool party twelve floors upstairs, in Veuve Clicquot Champagne Garden.

Like with anything alcohol or any cocktail sponsor-god bless them-they're open for two hours after the last concert performance up in the Loft.

Don't worry, W Hotels is pretty relaxing and accommodating  with transferring your champagne and champagne afternoon snacks between the live intimidate music performances and chilling in Veuve Clicquot Champagne Garden.

Based on studying constant hits, Crabby Fries are W Hollywood's Wake Up Call Festival's own take on those legendary Coachella Garlic Crab Fries, in a much nicer environment with champagne.

Man, there isn't like anything like a slice of pizza at midnight, after you're done clubbing.
The W Hollywood's Wake Up Call does this better.

There ain't nothing like it when you can sip Veuve Clicquot Champagne with a fresh pizza pie, fresh out of Stella Barra's wood burning oven.  They open at 8pm, down in Veuve Clicquot Champagne Garden,  when Shake Shack, Poke Bowl, and Fruit Cart and the Loft shut down, switching from luxurious lunch lounge to concert bar for the headlining acts.

Due to crowd control, you gotta keep and dine your champagne and pizza dinner down in the champagne garden, before and after the headlining concert, upstairs in the Loft.

The crowd, both the pool crowd and night time vampire crowd, turned for Saturday night's headliners, Phantogram, the intellectual Millennial Emo turning into techno EMO classics.

Now a days, any festival worth its salt, now tosses in free fitness class so you can recharge for next day and night for partying.  During and preparing for Coachella, you have to locate and rsvp for a mythical free yoga class that's located in a middle of nowhere.  By the time you get there, it's over.

Not with W Hotels' Wake Up Call's FUEL Fitness classes.

Remember, you're in a festival.  You gotta pace yourself.  You have to detox to retox.  Believe it or not, this scribe joined in a spinning class before the pizza and Phantogram later that night.

Sunday morning, it was yoga and weight-training cross fit.  The Ask Me Anything people can help you book your FUEL class.

Remember, how nasty you feel because you're sweaty and coated in desert dust or just plain greasy, oily.  Not at W Hollywood's Wake Up Call Festival.  Even though it's not officially part of the festival, like FUEL Fitness classes, Bliss Spa is a part of the W Hotel chain.  Sure, you may pay extra and have to book directly through Bliss Spa, but your body and soul will thank you.

Don't worry, you got more than enough time to catch the late afternoon Living Room live, intimate Billboard Magazine performance sets and late night headliners, like...

Wake Up Call Festival's afternoon Living Room Live are intimidate live performances, where guests and attendees can get up close and personal with young Gen-Z rockers emoting and rocking, live in the flesh.  You can feel that electricity and live wire energy and the heart-felt emotions.  Ok, it's a great way to discover fresh talent like Bayli…

Sunday night's headliner was Charli XCX...

Since W Hotels are an hotel chain, their Wake Up Call Music Festival is a chain of festivals spanning the globe.  Wherever there is a W Hotel, there will be a Wake Up Call Music Festival...

Not only will you have local and regional culture and flavors, you'll be part of that "party like a rock star" jet-set...
