Golden Globe Hair 2014 Edition

By Laura Medina

Hair Stylist and creator of Andre Walker's Gold System by the man himself, was the man of the hour yesterday.

Take Your Natural Hair up a Notch – Lupita Nyong’o’s Golden Globes Look by Celebrity Hairstylist Larry Sims using Andre Walker's Gold System.

Larry started Lupita’s glam look by liberally applying Smooth ‘N Shine Go Pro Curls Curl-Licious Mist to refresh and reactivate her natural curls.

Next, Larry used a rat tail comb to insert a dramatic deep side part on the right side of her head. He then took the part back to the crown of Lupita’s head and combed her hair to each side.

After the dramatic part was put in place, Larry then used Smooth ‘N Shine Go Pro Curls Butter Bouncin’ to hydrate Lupita’s hair to give it an easy moldable texture.

For a finishing touch, Larry used got2b 2sexy voluptuous volume hairspray to keep her tresses in place through a long night of Golden Globe after parties.

For Kerry Washington’s long loose waves and Paula Patton’s sleek bob, Get their sultry and silky looks with the Get It Straight leave-in styler.

CHRIS McMILLAN, LIVING PROOF HAIRSTYLIST for Julianne Moore,...

“Old Hollywood glamour with a modern twist. I was most inspired by style icon Veronica Lake and the blonde in the new Dior campaigns. Her Van Cleef & Arpels earrings were amazing, so we wanted to tuck her hair behind her ears to make sure they were visible.”

PRODUCTS: PRIME STYLE EXTENDER ($20) AND FIRM HOLD HAIR SPRAY ($26)

“First, I applied Living Proof Prime Style Extender to her damp, towel-dried hair and combed it through. Prime Style Extender gave me the sleek, healthy hair I needed for styling. I parted the hair on the left and blow-dried it straight with a large round brush.  On dry hair, I applied the Firm Hold Hair Spray as a heat protector and used a 1 ½ inch curling iron to create an S-curve with her bang, accentuating her eyes and keeping her hair away from the face. I then used the same iron to bend the ends under, curling the iron in a counter clockwise motion.  I wanted the look to be glossy, sleek and simple.”

CHRIS McMILLAN, LIVING PROOF CELEBRITY HAIRSTYLIST for JULIANNA MARGULIES,...

“The look we decided on was a modern take on a classic updo. After seeing the dress, we wanted to make sure the hair completed the elegance of the whole look. We created an architectural style that was clean around the face and a little messy in the back.”

PRODUCTS: LIVING PROOF PRIME STYLE EXTENDER ($20), LIVING PROOF AMP INSTANT TEXTURE VOLUMIZER ($24), LIVING PROOF FLEX SHAPING HAIRSPRAY ($24)

“First, I applied Living Proof Prime Style Extender to her wet hair for a lasting style. Using a large round brush, I blew out the hair straight with a deep, side bang. I applied a small amount of Living Proof Amp throughout the hair to add texture. I then pulled the hair back into a low ponytail, and instead of twisting the hair into a bun I lifted the ponytail straight up and pinned it to the back of the head. I then folded the hair down and pinned it underneath the ponytail holder, creating the bun. I left the ends of the hair resting at the nape of her neck.  Finally, I applied Living Proof Flex Shaping Hairspray to the hair for lasting and flexible hold.”
