Fun-loving sunscreen brand, Vacation Inc. doesn’t take itself seriously but they anything that will give you a good tan but an healthy tan.

They acquired the rights to retro tanning gel Bain de Soliel, ask your grandparents about that decadent, guilty treat of a tanning gel and lotion that gave them that deep, dark infamous tan, before sun protection and skin cancer awareness.

Bain de Soliel fell out of favor then it was discontinued in 2019, until Vacation Inc. decided to make it better and safer.

They turned that tanning gel into a silly, fun, luxurious sunscreen, Orange Gelee, an orange gel sunscreen that allows wearer to tan safely.

Vacation Inc. used the Bain de Soliel’s 100tg birthday to launch the new tanning sunscreen at Hollywood Roosevelt pool. Basically, it’s Bain de Soliel, the sunscreen.

But their pool launch party was anything but basic.

Bain de Soliel and the tan were born in the French Riviera. So, the launch party was a glamorous South of French pool party that could had been conceived by “Emily in Paris” Sylvie and Emily Cooper. Tres chic.

Vacation Inc. had a three piece classical music string quartet that was immediately followed by a DJ.

The pool lounge was where Vacation Inc. launch their new orange-inspired limited edition Summer tropical fragrance line. Lucky guests had their perfume spritzers engraved .

First on the red carpet, the star of Dabney Day’s “The Gardener,” Melbourne, Australian character actress, Radha Mitchell talked about the beautiful but isolated location up in Cashiers, North Carolina Highlands.

The writer and director, advertising tv commercial director and advertising executive, Dabney Day first came up with the story of an high-pressured cosmetics heiress who did a botanical reset when Dabney went to a retreat, thirty years ago, did a fast then vomited as a cleanse. That was when she came up with “The Gardener” story.

Based on Dabney’s advertising executive’s experience dealing with high-powered women in fashion and beauty, she based Radha’s character on Aerin Lauder, Estée Lauder’s heir, carrying on the family business, legacy, and the responsibility not to drop the ball yet fending off courting, predatory mergers and buy-outs.

Dabney called the cosmetic industry as a veil.

Radha’s cosmetic heiress retreating to reset and recharge is the “unveiling.”

The character, “The Gardener,” is the spiritual guide.

In casting “The Gardener,” Dabney does not want a major celebrity’s popularity and fame to over-shadow the romantic male character and Radha’s character journey since the story is really about her.

Yes, the protagonist is middle-aged woman but not and never an agism victim but still a strong, powerful woman executive breathing fresh ideas for her family legacy, inhaling fresh air, away from the noise.

She owns it by controlling her sexuality and image, instead of being weaponized against her.

Instead, she used her ADHD as multi-taker to created multiple branding businesses which us important as an entrepreneur.

Her “ADHD” song not only describes it but also as a positive example for those with it. She encourages them to use it as a superpower. Once parents of ADHD kids found out Paris using it successfully, they reach out to her, as a positive role model.

Sia, is also in the documentary. But as opposite. Sia has autism. She also uses it as her own superpower as a brilliant songwriter and singer.

Sia and Paris are both neurodivergent friends from opposite ends of the spectrum. Sia is her producer as buddy.

Sia says “Free” means you don’t need fixing or solving. 

These ladies prove being neurodivergent is a power, a gift, and a talent. Ain’t nothing wrong with it.

More than a Fugee, Wyclef Jean went from the Jennifer Hudson Talk Show to headlining four shows for two nights at the Blue Note LA.

He told Jennifer that he made Shakira a star when he gave then produced her breakout hit. “Hips Don’t Lie.”

Wyclef admitted it was a leftover song meant for a “Dirty Dancing” sequel, “Havana Nights” that never materialized.

Since he had this song, with nowhere to go, Wyclef decided to give it to Shakira then produced it. 

Wyclef said that the dignified Ms. Lauren Hill would never be caught shaking her hips like a washer. Shakira, then a Colombian grunge rocker trying to cross over into the US market, obviously had no problem shaking her hips.

The next night, at Blue Note LA, Wyclef Jean rap and sang in French, Spanish, and English all in one song. He’s Haitian.

He had an impressive group of musicians. How impressive? His trombonist played a conch snail shell, like a French Horn.

Towards the end. he had a pair Carnival dancers bring down the house.

This gentleman knows how to rock and party at the same time.

Last night was Smashbox Studio’s 35th anniversary, which led to Smashbox Cosmetics six years later.

What started as a simple chic, a upscale professional photography studio for glossy magazines, remember those, led to a need for high-quality makeup to stand up under strobe lights and long hours, morphed into the LA version of MAC, that became the brand we all know.

The studio’s 35 years formed the makeup brands.

During those years, it was a breeding ground for other influential photographers. Some who started their publications and magazines, such as treats.

Hairstylists and of course, celebrity makeup artists got their feet there.

Last night’s bash was Hollywood outside of the awards season.

The lucky 200, out of thousand guests, friends, and family, got Smashbox Studio’s 35th Anniversary thank you makeup gift kit of their latest plumping lip gloss, their latest liquid lipstick and legendary primer.

Smashbox was and still is the standard bearer of LA cosmetics.

During approaching evening rainstorm, folk singer and actress, Sara Melson ended her intimate release set by assuring everyone, singing “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz.

Sara was a glowing warm light shining in dark and stormy times, reassuring people that things will be alright.

Actually this intimate concert was a live recording of an upcoming release, recorded live. 

A rare treat being a select few, witnessing a capture of lightning in a bottle that will be released in an album.

Other than “Over the Rainbow,” each and every song is fresh and brand new and never been heard until that dark and stormy night.

That freshness was like a freshly baked loaf of bread, warm, soft, and nourishing.

The Doors’ John Densmore Discusses Being Blinded by Fame “On Air LA” Fest Podcast

As the drummer, The Doors’ John Densmore said he was singed by fame. He wasn’t burnt by fame nor consumed by the flames of fame, like the lead singer, Jim Morrison on “On Air LA 25” podcast festival at KCRW Studios, https://www.onairpresents.com/stories/on-air-la-25-evening-of-music-the-doors 

As a first-hand witness, he knows it is the lead singer who gets consumed by fame. A subject that a decade younger punk rocker, Billy Idol discussed a week earlier.

People and fans project their fantasies and assumptions and expectations on the lead singer, causing the pressure and stress leading to alcoholism and drug addiction to cope with all that attention and stress.

John talked about how Jim was already a narcissistic yet creative and expressive alcoholic. 

He described Jim as “creative, self-destructive Dionysian Alcoholic Sex God.”

John discussed there was sexual energy and sexual attraction and narcissism with creativity that all matches and combines together in one human being.

Remember in the mid to late Sixties, Alcoholic Anonymous was new and considered lame, not widely accepted among the Rock n’ Roll set, like it is now.

To cope and deal with fame during the mind-altering psychedelic Sixties, it was considered mainstream normal to drink your problems. John commented if Jim was alive today, he would be an health freak who avoids alcohol.

John added when The Doors formed then got running into legends that they are, Jim’s United States Naval Admiral dad was commanding battleships in Vietnam’s Gulf of Tonkin, that unofficially started the Vietnam War without Congress, Senate, or the public approval and awareness. 

This created shame and stress on Jim Morrison. He coped by writing poetry that evolved into those timeless classic songs that defined LA and California in the Sixties, morphing into today’s rock classics, making The Doors legends.

Even the fame from admirers and his dad starting the Vietnam War, Jim unintentionally created the rock n’ roll uniform of black leather jeans and matching black leather jackets. John commented to Jim, does it get hot down there in the crotch?

That black leather jeans uniform continues thru Billy Idol. Jim Morrison set the standard for the continuing generation of rockers through Lenny Kravitz to Yung Blud of today.

To this day, dealing with being a rock legend, John Densmore simply says he’s divorced and still go to the bathroom.
