This current pandemic quarantine has forced us to work our brains in new ways, what we call "pivot."
We unknowingly revitalized all but forgotten American tradition of the drive-in movie.
It's not your grandparents' drive-in, no making out in the dark, producing your parents.
Thanks to social distancing, there are guest attendants making sure everything is clean and proper. They're not CORVID-19 nazis. If act prime and proper, they're nice enough to help you in directing traffic, parking, and snack, cocktails to-go, and meal delivery.
The really smart folks at HULU, realize now is a great and jolly time to premiere a fresh tv movie to an entertainment-starving audience, in time for the holidays, drive-in premiere of "The Happiest Season." A first time a Christmas movie centers on a lesbian relationship with a gay best friend. Realism.
Shown in the majestic Malibu gem of Calamigos Ranch, Hulu's "The Happiest Season" Drive-In is the new drive-in. Yes, people can tailgate. The snack bar is replaced with a chic concession stand selling warm nacho with beer and wine.
This was this past Sunday. "The Happiest Season" will air on Hulu tonight.
Drive-Ins are the new ways to premiere.
Dying for performance art?
"Stranger Things" Drive-In has dancers, aerialists, and monsters performing in-between snippets of the episodes.
Great for bored tweens and teens. Since they want the guests to keep on moving and stay in their cars, no making-out. So, a great date option for teens.
This trend reporter is disappointed with majority of drive-ins are airing old movies, due to the last-minute pivot and flip and not having enough to book fresh, new, and upcoming movies and tv shows that need to be released, to keep the industry going.
However, Lexus Culinary Cinema is doing their best with pairing gourmet meals to the movies, in one weekend two weeks ago.
