“The Eve of Jackie,” starring Broadway's Chester Gregory, Paying Tribute to “Mr. Excitement,” Jackie Wilson, A Fundraiser That Doesnt' Feel Like A Fundraiser.

By Laura Medina

For a fundraiser for educational programs and residencies for actors in need, by the Black Rebirth Collective, it doesn't feel like it.

From the free valet parking to the efficient media and guest check-in, it was professionally seamless.

The Black Rebirth Collective and the Nate Holden Performance Arts Center know that good graciousness equates into good will.

Once checked in, guests were immediately greeted by healthy and the trendiest of refreshments, from Suja Juice and Zevia Teas, that have yet to hit the market.

The Nate Holden Performing Arts Center, http://ebonyrep.org/, is more spacious than it appears outside.

There are two banquet rooms for the gourmet buffet dinner and a second room for a silent auction...

The real party was a private concert honoring Jackie Wilson's legacy with his daughter and grand-daugher...

This jubilant celebration of a Broadway concert was the real event of the night...

It doesn't feel like a fundraiser.  It felt like a celebration of someone's life.
