deadmau5 LOS ANGELES POP-UP EXPERIENCE THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 & SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 ON THE WORLD-FAMOUS SUNSET STRIP

By Laura Medina
In a rare move, the elusive DJ, deadmau5 opened up a peek into his world with a pop-up shop
at 1114 Horn Ave (x Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood), the pop-up will take place tomorrow, Thursday, September 26 through Saturday, September 28 from noon – 8pm each day. Part merchandise, part lounge to fully experience deadmau5's trance electronic music, visitors and fans can fully delve this weekend.
Here fans will have the opportunity to purchase new and exclusive merchandise from deadmau5 and members of the mau5trap family.  These include items like tour tees, jerseys, new crystal wash hoodies and long sleeves, posters and even tarot cards (from i_o).

Each day of the pop-up fans will be able to experience something different from the world of deadmau5:  On Thursday, September 26, deadmau5 will be doing a signing in the store from 3pm-5pm; Friday, September 27 i_o will be in the shop from 2pm-5pm for a signing as well as a specdrum/sphero demo; And Saturday, September 28 is mau5trap day where various label artists will be on hand from 2pm-5pm for a signing. There will also be a 1-hour Q&A panel.

The pop-up will feature an interactive art & music installation powered by Specdrums from Sphero. Fans will have the opportunity to play a set of mau5head color-coded drums and create their own song mixes from the mau5trap Soundpacks in the Specdrums Mix app.  Specdrums are musical rings that make the world your instrument by turning colors into sounds. Connect to the Specdrums MIX app and tap on anything –clothes, drawings, or the included playing pad – to create and mix any sounds, beats, and loops that all play through mobile devices.

Come by the mau5trap clubhouse overlooking the iconic Sunset Strip for dope beats and a pop-up experience featuring a "BYOMH" mau5head gallery and an interactive music experience powered by Specdrums.  Also on-site are brand new art installations, the cubev3-Themed McLaren 720s Spider, booming sound from PK Sound, beverages by Corona, limited edition merch and much, much more.

Prior to opening to the public, tonight, Wednesday, September 25, the deadmau5 team host a private VIP & press preview event at the shop.

deadmau5 can now be found on his cubev3 U.S. tour which comes to the famed Hollywood Palladium for five nights – Wednesday, September 25 through Sunday, September 29.  His show features the most complex production he has ever presented. The original cube debuted at Coachella April 2010, catapulting deadmau5 to become one of the most in-demand live acts in the world, with its follow-up Cube 2.1 arriving in 2017 at the launch of his “lots of shows in a row tour.”  cubev3 - changing positions from 90 degrees into 45 degrees and rotate 360 degrees—comes to life with mind bending content accompanied by a custom selection of music performed live by deadmau5.  More info on the cube along with photos and other assets can be found here.

In other news on October 4, deadmau5 will release here’s the drop!, a collection of remixes of material from where’s the drop?, his 2018 album of re-imagined orchestral arrangements of his previous work, in collaboration with musical director Gregory Reveret.  Over the course of its 15 tracks, plenty of revered tastemakers have been tapped for their talents to make this remix album a cerebral journey through sound.  Morgan Page—who deadmau5 remixed his 2013 single “The Longest Road”--offers up his version of “imaginary friends,” Matt Lange tackles “superbia,” and many more expertly reimagined offerings round out this ambitious album from mau5trap’s current artists and alumni such as Mr Bill, Sian, Rinzen and Tinlicker.  There is also a remix from deadmau5’ collaborator from where’s the drop? Gregory Reveret and mau5trap artist Spencer Brown’s who’s “fn pig” delivers a genre-melding and hypnotic expedition that complements the source material, but also creates surprising new interpretations on moments in the music.  Pre-save the album at https://ffm.to/heresthedrop
