The week leading up to the Grammy Awards on Sunday night is called Grammy Week, a week long celebration of and for music. In other words, it rocks!
Thursday night is always "glam slam night," and this past Thursday night is no exception.
"Grammy Thursday" kicked off with Sephora x Proactive. Conveniently, they picked Grammy Week to strike two birds with one stone. It's the same time they debut Proactive's 5-years brand ambassador, Maite Perroni, to a larger American audience as they announce that Sephora is going to carry Proactive in their stores. How convenient.
Leaning into an emerging demographic of Gen-Zers, Maite explained that Proactive had always help her with her acne, very predominate with Latin complexion. Now that Sephora is going to carry Proactive, Maite is more than thrilled to celebrate than give a private concert among hard-core Sephora supporters, during Grammy Week.
Whatever was on display, are the same kits used to celebrate Sephora's Proactive release.
Two blocks away and dashing a mere two blocks to the Grammy Museum, fittingly enough, the states of Louisiana and Mississippi and the City of the Blues, Memphis, TN, had joined forces to showcase and honor their local musicians who always end up being nominated or winning a Grammy, not a bad track record.
When this "glam slammed" scribe snuck in, contemporary soul-funk Sean Ardoin was just starting to rock the stage.
Then, traditional Creole-Indian, Mardi Gras but contemporary, multi-cultural Cha Wa proves it's a demographic and musical gumbo that keeps tradition alive and well into the 21st century, without skipping a beat and still getting nominated at the Grammys. It's a traditional well-earned.
This concert's finale is when Louisiana, Mississippi, and Memphis team up together to do Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" lyric "Rolling Down the River," since that night's theme is "A Night on the River," honoring the mighty Mississippi River that birth, cultivate and nourish then carry the musical traditions of jazz, blues, soul, rock, and country up and down America then out to the greater world.
After the two and an half hour concert, the famish folks were rewarded with a buffet rich in down-home Delta cuisine that would be consider gourmet elsewhere: crawfish/crawdaddy pot pie, fried catfish nugget sandwich sliders, cornbread muffins, shrimp cocktail galore, and mini pecan pie tarts.
Don't worry, the guests burnt even more calories jamming, grooving, and rocking to an high school rock/soul band belting out classic rock and soul tunes.
The day after, Grammy Friday, is both a recovery and prep day for the big night, the Grammy Awards on Grammy Sunday.
