This is the HUGE NARS Issue, not edition, but an issue of "The Arriviste" dedicated to NARS, the iconic brand that first married quality with practicality, the game-breaking "The Mulitple," the chubby stick lipstick/blush combo or the eyeshadow/lipstick/contour/bronzer stick.
Since launching The Multiple in 1996, there have been 380 Multiples sold in the US everyday that it is now a woman's makeup must-have on her vanity table, bathroom stink, and purse. Last year, 2013, 150,000 Multiples were sold in the US. A Multiple is sold in the US, every 4 minutes.
Francois Nars' Multiple has launched a many copy-cats but his Multiples are the mainstays in the industry.
Considering Nars has always been about the modern woman on the go, the brand is looking forward with collaborating with British designer, Christopher Kane for the upcoming Spring Collection...
The
Christopher Kane for NARS Collection will launch worldwide in May 2015 with a
full color collection featuring products for eyes, lips and cheeks. Created in
conjunction with Christopher Kane, the limited edition collection will be
previewed later this afternoon at the Christopher Kane Spring/Summer 2015 show
in London.
“NARS has been a
long-standing and valued partner of ours, so this collaboration was an obvious
fit,” said Christopher Kane. “NARS has the same unapologetic aesthetic that is
signature to the Christopher Kane brand and I’m excited to share what we’ve
created together.”
The
collection combines NARS’ iconic and bold beauty philosophy with Christopher’s
unexpected and innovative design aesthetic. NARS and
Christopher Kane have been collaborating on the Christopher Kane runway shows
at London Fashion Week since 2012.

were the inspiration for this look, it’s raw, a little undone and
effortlessly cool. The models looked great when they showed up for the
casting—great skin, lots of freckles and a left over summer-vacation
look to them, so we groomed the brows and gave the cheeks a flushed,
overheated look.”

Marc Jacobs
Bluntly, Nars' bare but fresh-faced look is an ideal "starter" no-makeup but skincare look for budding tweens, who want to wear makeup but need to get into the practice of good skincare first.
LEAD ARTIST: François Nars, Founder & Creative Director
LOOK: "The look for
the show features no makeup – we only applied moisturizer. With Marc we
always take it to the extreme, we’ve done bold looks in the past, but
this season we wanted to make a statement by not applying anything.
This goes back to one of the
looks that I’ve always loved – bare skin, nothing on the face, lips or
eye, just beautiful skin – I love makeup but I also love seeing women
without makeup. To me, it’s a great way to show fashion. It works so
well with the clothes and the hair. Who knows, maybe next season we will
go back to a full face of makeup. I love having the flexibility to do
this, we are not locked into applying makeup. I like the idea that what
you see is what you get.”

CEO, Louis Desazars at the VIP event.
The NARS 20th
Anniversary exhibition, held at Maccarone Gallery in the West Village,
was curated by design firm Baron & Baron and features highlights
from the past two decades
including iconic NARS campaigns and selects from published volumes of
Francois Nars’ work. Each image evokes the power of transformation,
bringing the viewer face-to-face with every dimension of his creative
vision.
“This is an
amazing milestone to celebrate, I feel like it was just yesterday that I
started NARS, but I think we are in a very good place–constantly
improving and growing by the
day. I’m excited to see what the next 20 years will bring” said
François Nars.
Beauty Inspiration: “I
wanted this look to be very glamorous but not too traditional which is
why we opted for a bright lip; it's the first time we've gone bold for
the red carpet!. To keep the look fresh and modern I decided to forego
eyeliner and instead create a wash of metallic on the eyes.”
Key NARS products used:
Beauty Inspiration:“Kirsten’s
look featured elements of Star Wars and the idea of intergalactic
travel with a twenties inspired hairstyle. The makeup tied all of these
concepts together.”
Beauty Inspiration:
"This is timeless beauty and reflects the way women of the 1950's used
small details in their application for spectacular enhancement of their
features. We opted for a reddish-orange lip and created the tiniest
flick of eyeliner for subtle definition."
Beauty Inspiration: After
looking at her dress, we decided that the focus should be her eyes. We
imagined this dark and smokey bronzed look with a lot of mascara.
Glowing cheeks and a nude lip really helped to intensify the dramatic
effect.
Beauty Inspiration: “This
look is very classic but very glamorous. We wanted to nod to Charles
James’ aesthetic by creating a look reminiscent of vintage Hollywood but
modernize it with a muted red lip.”
LEAD ARTIST: James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry
LOOK: “The collection
this season is about transcendence- moving from the earthly realm into
the light. We wanted the makeup to reflect a sense of purity and
illumination, so we focused on gleaming, luminous skin and a metallic
blue liner on the inside of the eye to light the eyes from within.”

was really inspired by the collection, which is very "matte." There's
nothing too silky and I wanted that to translate to the makeup. The
models look like mannequins. The eyelid is a pale neutral grey and we
made it look bigger by foregoing mascara. The lips have a touch of
frosted metallic silver. We used a lot of powder for a matte, porcelain
