The South Bay is a mystery, even to native and long-term Angelenos. For them, anything below and south of LAX is a no-go/No Man's Land.
For those in the know or being pushed out of LA proper or those yearning for some sort of privacy, away from "Hollywood," the South Bay is the place to be.
The South Bay mainly consists of El Segundo (aka "Slow Town or "The Second), Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach.
In the shadows of LAX, those beach cities or towns have risen up into their own identities. With proximity to LAX's Boeing and other air craft and jets manufacturing companies and shielded by a power plant...and LAX, Manhattan Beach becomes Beverly Hills-like in it's own right with Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach hesitantly rising up in awareness.
Plus, Manhattan Beach is home to professional athletes, such as professional volleyball players-Kerri Walsh-Jennings-and the L.A. Kings, the L. A. Lakers, and L. A. Clippers.
It's a different type of celebrities with a different type of affluence that form the South Bay's new and unique influence, separate from Hollywood.
South Bay Girls Day Out in Manhattan Beach Studios.
First up is the afternoon delight, South Bay Girls Day Out 2015 to raise money for Village Care International we
wanted to create an experience with as much enjoyment for a 65 year old
woman as there is for her 22 year old daughter. We wanted to bring
together mothers & daughters, friends & family, co-workers &
all women in the community to experience a day of pampering, shopping,
and socializing with each other.
Obviously, the main decor is pink.
Donators were treated to drinks and small bites
from sponsors like Titos Vodka, Mercury Wine Club and Fresh Brothers,
pampering stations from sponsors like The Nail Truck and Keihls, pop up
boutiques from stores like Waverly Boutique in Manhattan Beach and Trina
Turk, and other fun activity stations like a cupcake bar and a photo
booth. Express Djs will be proving the wonderful upbeat tunes throughout
the day and a fashion show is also set to take place.
The highlight of the afternoon event was a runway showcasing South Bay's beach style from local retailers.

9th Annual White Light White Night on a top-secret rooftop.
9th Annual White Light White Night on a top-secret rooftop.
If South Bay Girls Day Out was a pink afternoon delight, Walk With Sally's 9th Annual White Light White Night was the South Bay's big gala night.
Hosted on a rooftop of a top-secret location with ample room for twenty food and beverage vendors and awesome concert and lounge...all in white of course, White Light White Night production value can rival any Award Season industry party up in Hollywood proper.
The twenty-something food vendors highlight what is best in South Bay cuisine and restaurants.
The beer and Deep Eddy Vodka cocktails flowing were top-notch.
The guests were elegant as they were party-hardy tenacious. Injured, disable...no matter...they still get dressed up for a good cause and...
a party and a decent concert by a Neil Diamond cover band that went well into the night.
The South Bay's idea of celebrities/socialites are sports stars, such as members from the L.A. Kings, L.A. Lakers, and the L. A. Clippers. Here are the celebrities and personalities who showed up: KCAL 9 News Reporter, Serene Branson.
Red carpet and Fox Sports host, Jessica Rosales welcomed special guests including Actor Greg Daniel, from True Blood who arrived looking dapper. Actresses Linsey Godfrey, Jacqueline Macinnes Wood, Ashleigh Brewer and Kim Matula from Bold and the Beautiful were seen making it a ladies night as they sipped on specialty cocktails and chatted about their cancer-related stories with attendees and took photos with fans.
