Clinique is partnering with TED to launch a global search to bring the next smart idea to life, linked to the brand’s Smart Serum franchise. Now, anyone who has ever aspired to be the next Sara Blakely, Sheryl Sandberg or Amy Cuddy – or even just had a lightbulb idea moment at their kitchen table – will have the chance to get their idea in front of some of the brightest minds in the country, and the world

As a Product Developer major in fashion design school, it's your duty, as a student to come up with a great idea, do your homework, design the prototype then pitch it.  It's the insular version of Donald Trump's "The Apprentice."

Who says beauty can't meet brains?

L'Oreal has a long history supporting women scientists and chemists so you can wear improved texture and formulations in their cosmetics you buy at your local mass retailers and drugstores.
Now, Clinique has partnered with TED to launch a global search to bring the next smart idea to life.  They received more than 1300 ideas from around the world.

TED & Clinique announced a call to action for women everywhere to submit their ideas at Clinique.com through August 31 of last year 2015.  This partnership and campaign are part of a movement to engage and encourage women all over the world to share their intelligence, ambition and creativity.  The most compelling idea will receive funding to help make it a reality.

The winner will be invited as a special guest to the Smart Women series at the TEDWomen conference in 2016, a rare opportunity to be profiled amongst and network with esteemed TED community members to propel her idea further through connections with like-minded women.

The winner will join existing Clinique x TED Talk panelists for TEDWomen 2016 in the Fall.

Jane Chen, Healthcare Innovator & CEO of Embrace Innovations

TED Fellow Jane Chen co-founded Embrace Innovations, a social enterprise that aims to help the millions of vulnerable babies born in developing countries through a low-cost infant warmer.

Jessica O. Matthews, Playful Entrepreneur & CEO of Uncharted Play

She’s the power behind SOCCKET, a soccer ball that provides a source of clean energy by converting kinetic energy generated in play into electrical energy that can power small appliances.

Erin Bagwell, Feminist Storyteller & Director of “Dream, Girl”

“Dream, Girl” is a documentary that tells the stories of female entrepreneurs, with the aim to change the public perception of the roles that women can fill.

The winner of Clinique x TED Talk Women Fall 2016 is...

They say innovations are the children of "Mothers of Inventions."

Clinique also have findings from a global survey on women’s happiness in regards to career. The survey found that 85% of women globally believe it’s important for women to be successful professionally and that 63% of US women believe that trying to “have it all” (balancing career, family life, etc.) has made women more unhappy than ever before. This new partnership between Clinique and TED is an effort to further the brand’s dedication to empowerment and supporting women’s success.

This is where Alison Bishop steps in with her New Moms Bootcamp.

There is no one right way to be a family. But the decisions can feel overwhelming, and your choices can be the difference between joy and satisfaction or a sense that life is out of control. In Alison Bishop's 3-hour workshops that include workshop grads and trained facilitators, new moms become more confident making decisions for themselves, their babies and their families. Alison Bishop, mother of four, is based in Irvine, California. Her idea won because it is important, affordable and easy to implement and expand. She will receive $20,000 in funding.

To further prove that inventions are the children of Mothers of Inventions, a mom and Clinique's Product Developer came up with the line of Smart Moisturizers.

Janet Pardo, wife, daughter, mom, friend, and Senior Vice President of Product Development at Clinique,

"We wanted one formula that could handle your top skin concerns, and do everything well. Clinique Smart helps visibly erase wrinkles, even skin tone, firm and hydrate. You have SPF protection for daytime, and plentiful moisture to help fuel natural repair while your sleep."

She helped developed Clinique's Smart Moisturizer Series:
Shop Clinique Smart Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Custom-Repair Moisturizer
Shop Clinique Smart Night Custom-Repair Moisturizer

Clinique Smart™ Custom-Repair Serum

Clinique Smart™ Treatment Oil

Clinique Smart™ Custom-Repair Eye Treatment

Smart women everywhere solve everyday needs and wants.  Like this scribe says, inventions are the kids of smart ideas.
