As you readers know, this scribe has been hitting the highways exploring the real California, outside of Los Angeles.

You all already know the latest excursion were Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley,

"Family Day, Father's Day, & Other Festivities at Holman Ranch & Will's Fargo Steakhouse & Bar." http://luxurist.blogspot.com/2015/06/family-day-fathers-day-other.html and  Carmel-by-the-Sea, "Hofsas House, California Hospitality." http://luxurist.blogspot.com/2015/06/hofsas-house-california-hospitality.html, all in "Wine Country," the Central Coast/Valley of California and Northern California.

We all know the virtues of wine antioxidants, resveratrol, in declogging and protecting our hearts and arteries, but the top secret among wine makers (especially those who run spa retreats and resorts, in addition to their vineyards and wineries) is that those leftover scraps of grape skins (the same stuff that gives dark wines their tannin and color which increases antioxidants in wine) are still rich in anti-aging antioxidants, resveratrol.
Resveratrol...
1. Protects skin from damage: Our skin is constantly being attacked by free radicals, highly reactive molecules that are both produced by our bodies and circulating in the air around us thanks to smoke and other air pollutants. Antioxidants such as resveratrol, vitamin E, and vitamin C, neutralize existing free radicals so they don't damage your skin, and they prevent these harmful molecules from forming in the first place. Resveratrol trumps vitamins E and C in effectiveness.

2. Soothes the skin: Toxins, sun exposure, and other irritants can damage your skin's collagen and elastin to accelerate aging, wrinkles, and saggy skin. But resveratol's anti-inflammatory properties calm and heal the skin to curb chronic damage.

3. Firms your face: Collagen is the key structural protein in our skin that provides healthful elasticity. As we age, our estrogen levels shift, thus producing less collagen, and resulting in crow's feet, plus droopy, thin skin and lackluster lips. Resveratrol functions like estrogen to maintain collagen levels and moisture for firm, perky skin and a juicy complexion.

4. Provides sun-protection: There's no question that sun exposure is a major culprit for skin damage and aging; it contributes to the classic signs of photoaging, which include uneven pigmentation, broken blood vessels, loss of collagen and elastin, and wrinkly, sagging skin. While studies show that drinking red wine can help protect your skin from sun damage, thanks to the skin-saving ingredient resveratrol, a more prudent, potent way to summon the benefits of this powerful antioxidant is to slather it directly on your face and body. Applied topically, resveratrol protects skin and inhibits damage from a broad spectrum of UVA and UVB rays.

5. Maintains healthy skin cells: Young-looking skin is evidence of young, healthy skin cells. Our old skin cells are replaced by new ones at remarkable rate: it only takes about a month for skin cell turnover. However, the older we get, the slower the rate. Visible signs of aging, such as dull skin, begin when old cells outnumber new. While there's no way to entirely stop skin cells from aging, resveratrol encourages your body to expend energy maintaining healthy tissue, which extends the lifespan of cells and keeps your skin glowing.

So, this scribe figures making a trip to Wine Country is a perfect place and time to pay homage and test out PUR Minerals' Wine Exfoliating Mask there, http://www.purminerals.com/Wine-Exfoliating-Mask

Due to it's jam-like texture and it's grains of grounded natural peach stones (seeds) and red wine antioxidants from Bordeaux's finest vineyards, you'll get a lot of usage out of this small, portable jar to impart youthful resveratrol into your skin.  You can leave it overnight or nap in it, as a restorative face mask and/or just use it as a rich scrub that imparts antioxidants into the skin.  As loyal readers, you all already know how this scribe loves travel-worthy, multipurpose beauty stuff loaded with vitamins.  This scribe's idea of "friends with benefits."

Okay, after the enriching exfoliating mask/scrub, you'll need some sort of protection or at least, dressed up your face.

Another nifty PUR Minerals item is their road-trip/TSA-friendly interchangeable sponge stamp of CC Cream with SPF 50 in an interchangeable/refillable compact,  PUR Minerals Air Perfection CC Cushion Compact Foundation SPF 50, http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-2052092/pur-minerals-air-perfection-cc-cushion-compact-foundation-with-spf-50.jsp and http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod12331021#

This scribe loves pulling this one out on the road, rest stop, restroom, airline seat, gate lobby, car-riding, retreat, resort, and strolling for a quick check-up and dab and pat.

This CC cream stamp pad is so full of foundation that it carries a whole bottle of light-weight, airy, breathable CC Cream in its sponge that you can zip it right through TSA screening and those security personnel wouldn't blink.

Yet, it's so light-weight in heft and compact, that you can just toss it in your get-away tote for a last-minute jaunt without weighing you down.

This scribe will return for another refill for the next trip...wherever it takes her.
