The Real Back to School Clothes. Philip Lam for Target and New York Fashion Week Style Kit

By Laura Medina

Haven't you noticed that New York Fashion Week coincides with Back to College?

This scribe remembers those days, when the air turns crisp and the leaves dapple the ground in orange, red, and brown.

Here are a couple of Fall Collections that are real transitional.  The same wardrobe and accessories that can help you get that internship, lucky you if it's during New York Fashion Week when they really need all hands on deck.

Above, here is Target's New York Fashion Week Survival:

 1. Pixi Extra Eye Bright Liner in Extra Bright, 8. Pixi Wakeup Concealer, $18.00, and 3. NP Set Lipstick in Bright Red, $12.00 are the necessary basic in fooling people that you're wide awake when you're not.  At least, your face is polished and put-together to face the day.

6. Mossimo Women’s Ponte Moto Jacket Jacket w/Side Zipper Solid Jacket in Black, $29.99, 5. Mossimo Women’s Straight Leg Tuxedo Pant in Black, $24.99, 4. Women's Xhilaration Susy Strappy Heel in Black, $29.99, and 2. Stone Chain Collar Necklace in Clear/Silver, $29.99, are the basic armor to shield yourself against the hordes of fashionistas and fashionista wanna-bes.

Now, those for the Fall/New York Fashion Week basics.

Hold onto your fedora, here's the real Back-to-School Collection, Back-to-College Collection that you can wear in your internship...

Philip Lim used to shop at Target and now, he's returning the love and the respect to shoppers, such as himself, by distilling his main line into a limited edition collection for Target, just in time for college, crisp, cool Autumn, internships, and that first job.

He neatly divides his limited edition Target collection into 3 parts: Morning, Noon, and Night.

This Morning Collection is more like a starter-professional wardrobe for the intern or the assistant.  With exception of the comic book graphics, they're obviously for the classroom.

The Noon Collection is more about being polished or being more put-together where being casual doesn't mean being sloppy.  It's more about meeting friends for lunch, coffee, or hanging on the weekends.  Philip describes this Noon Collection as "transition" where you ease effortlessly from day into night without spending the extra money.  This Noon Collection is ideal for the college freshmen and sophomore.

The Night Collection is the most mature and elegant of the three. Yes, your first clubwear.  Your first cocktail wear.  Your first Little Black Dress.  Your first leather jacket.

It's pretty apparent the classic trench coat is the mainstay stand-out but pale blue in the trousers and the women's trench coat lining pushes this Fall Collection forward into Spring rains, giving your closet extra mileage for the buck.

This is the real Back to School fashion when kids transition into young adulthood and need the young adult wardrobe to help them.
