Buddies and home interior styling and design duo, Alla Bystrisky and Michelle Gordon of A & M Home Styling, with the Doheny Mansion Open House happening coincidingly, offer tips in how to stay timeless as you flow with the time...within budget.

This couldn't had happened at a better time...Spring Cleaning or Home Detox...or Spring Awakening...or Spring Revamp.  Either way, once you clean out Winter's debris, you'll have room and space to spruce up your home.

Michelle and Alla know buying real furniture is a big investment and real furniture is built to last yet you want your home to progress alongside you as you progress through life and era.  How to prevent from going stale and dated?

They suggest don't go all out trendy.  You can still invest in furniture that you love and personify you; but you can switch up and update through accessories and accents, such as throw pillows, some side tables, and decorations like vases, knick-knacks, dining ware, and back-splashes.  Those are fun, cheap, and easy to switch and replace; and also easy to give as gifts or do a yard sales when you're ready to revamp and re-boot.

Here are A & M Home Styling updates:

This next photo demonstrates that you can keep the furniture you love but update it by installing fresh red lamp shades for that "splash of contemporary."

Notice that A & M Home Styling adds dashes of red to a traditional cream and pale blue Hollywood Regency look.

Here's how Doheny Mansion Open House does it...

This is the "Dark Shadow" room in the Doheny Mansion Open House, taking a traditionally dark and dank Tudor living room then brightening with Mod Hollywood Regency furniture in teal and cream.

The Doheny Open House interior designers make it "fun and funky" with this honey-comb side table.

Another way to update a house and a room is through fragrances or aroma therapy.

Voyage et Cie, an LA-based boutique perfumery, teamed up with Doheny House's Interior Design Open House to use fragrances to bring the mansion's history to life.

They curated a signature Voyage et Cie scent to compliment their intricate re-designed space within the 55-room mansion sitting pretty in Beverly Hills.

Some designers chose a fragrance that echoed their space - florally with a hint of citrus to compliment a feminine dressing room - others, wanted to balance a room's whimsy with a strong, woody scent to pay homage to how Mr. Doheny may have lived in the 1920's.

Look on the bright side, these home and bedroom fragrances can double as perfume and cologne for the young ladies and gentlemen.

Simple Spring 2016 Beauty with Smashbox and Burt's Bees.

By Laura Medina

Smashbox's latest L.A. Lights Blendable Lip & Cheek Color Sticks.
Fairfax Fuchsia, Laurel Canyon Coral, Sunset & Vine.

A couple of professional makeup artists either accuse this scribe for being "convenience makeup" or being a "bold minimalist."

This scribe is living the "bim, bam, boom" life, covering three events, around the clock, all in one day.  So, yes, convenience makeup that you can dab, dash, and go is very important, just for a mental pick-me-up.

NARS' Multiple Sticks were a game-changers.  They revolutionize the makeup routine game, catering to sophisticated but time-pressed professional women who want and need it all...potent color pay-off, blendable, durable, for eyes, cheeks, and lips...all in one stick.

It took awhile but Smashbox came up with their own version, L.A. Lights Blendable Lip & Cheek Color Sticks, paying homage to it's hometown's "magic sunlights."

Each bright and opaque color represents the different "magic hour" sunset light and natural sunlight you'll get in Los Angeles' neighborhoods, with their own vegetation filtering sunlight.

In both Sephora and Ulta, you'll get the rich, classic, and Old Hollywood vampy Sunset & Vine for a rich, wine burgundy.  It's a nod to "Sunset Boulevard," the movie where a blackish plum was the standard for deepening lips and contouring cheeks in black and white movies or yore.

Also at both Sephora and Ulta, Laurel Canyon Coral is that hippy-ish orangy-coral representing the optimistic naturalism of the Sixties and early Seventies Folk Music scene above the Sunset Strip.

But only at Ulta, Eighties' New Wave Neon hot and bold magneta, personified by cult celebrity, Angelyne, is represented by Fairfax Fuchsia.  Now, this is a pop of color everyone is recommending.  Dab, pat, and blend, still a flush of vibrant pink that ain't going nowhere.

Burt's Bees Lipstick

In fourteen shades of red, plum, violet, lilac, pink, peach, and nude, Burt's Bees finally gotten around and matured into developing their own line of classic, stand-by lipsticks in a traditional moisturizing formula of Beeswax, Moringa Oil, Raspberry Seed Oil, and Vitamin E.

The teaser to the all-natural makeup game, Burt's Bees fans who have grown with the brand from lip balm to shimmer to lip crayon, are rejoicing now.

Must Be Dreaming of A Get Away, Hot Sands/Tahiti Bronze Collection & Holiday Sneak Peek & New York & London Fashion Weeks & Facebook Tutorial From NARS.

By Laura Medina

Ah, New York Fashion Week is done and over; and so is the Awards Season.

People's thoughts turn to Spring and relaxation, which means Spring Break.  In turn, among a certain subset and tribe, Spring Break-ing at Coachella.

NARS must had taken a clue from the desert sandstone since the current Hot Sand Spring Collection is based on sandstone, the matte-iness of the desert climate and flesh tones fleshing out the collection.

If the desert isn't your thing but escaping to a remote tropical island is, NARS split his collection into two.  The second half is Tahiti Bronze Collection.

What's even more revolutionary, that flies under the radar but it's so darn helpful...NARS is now offering Facebook tutorials for anyone.  Fans of the brand can view the immersive experience on Facebook mobile or via desktop.

Facebook is so ubiquitous that people treat it as common place...which is great.  At your fingertips and whenever and wherever, you can get the latest step-by-step tutorials at Facebook 360 Beauty Tutorial, taught by NARS Lead Makeup Stylist, Janice Daoud.

Known for being a leader in the digital space, NARS has partnered with Facebook Creative Shop to create the first beauty 360 Video in the form of a Spring beauty tutorial.

As the tutorial plays, users can turn their device or drag their fingers to move around within the video and explore how to create the look any and every angle. For this Facebook 360 Video, NARS focused on filming targeted complexion, eye, brow, cheek, and lip looks to leverage the full effect each product provides.

As the video tutorial plays, users can turn their device or drag their finger to move around within the video and explore how to create the look at any and every angle. For this Facebook 360 Video, NARS focused filming on targeted complexion, eye, brow, cheek, and lip looks to leverage the full effect each product provides.

“Always looking to push boundaries of consumer’s engagement and be an innovator in the digital space, we are thrilled to share NARS is the first luxury beauty brand to produce a Facebook 360 Video. Through an exclusive partnership with Facebook, we have used social data points to inform our content decisions and we look forward to remain a leader in this space,” said Alessio Rossi, Global Chief Digital Officer, Shiseido Group.

Once you gleamed a couple of tips on makeup application from Facebook 360 Beauty, you can go to town with NARS' two-part Spring Collection.

The total Spring 2016 Collection is pretty simple, travel-worthy, and natural.

The Hot Sands Collection highlights eyes, lips and cheeks with an universally-flattering luminous peach champagne shade.

The five piece collection features A Hot Sand Illuminating Multiple, Hot Sand/Orgasm Blush Dup, Hot Sand/Laguna Blush/Bronzer Duo, Hot Sand Lip Gloss, and a Hanamachi Kabuki Brush.

Building on François Nars’ love for his own private island, Motu Tane, Tahiti Bronze Collection debuts an escape for the senses with a collection that combines new launches with Cult Classics for the face and body. This five piece collection is clad with Cult Classics Monoï Body Glow and Monoï Body Glow II, and newly added Liquid Laguna Bronzer, Laguna Tiara Bronzer, and Monoï Scented Candle.

For those jones-ing for the latest and the newest from NARS, here are the lists of what NARS artists used during Fashion Week and the ideas behind the look...

“I was inspired by a young Hispanic girl in New York. She's really confident and likes herself - she doesn't entertain all the makeup tricks "contour, foundation & powder” she goes straight for a strong lip. This is a sophisticated update on the heavily-lined lip from the 90’s. I played with the color and application on the lips, kept the rest of the face clean and bare, and brushed gloss through her brows to keep it young. It’s beauty with attitude.”
—Mark Carrasquillo for NARS Cosmetics

“This season's look focuses on healthy, transparent skin which is combined with glossy
eyelids, soft-matte flushed cheeks and rosebud-hued lips. This modern juxtaposition of
textures redefines and energizes the skin and gives the entire complexion a fresh but
luxurious feel.”
—Uzo, NARS International Lead Makeup Stylist

—James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry

“New youth culture’s take on high fashion - everything is very individual and personal.”
—Diane Kendal for NARS Cosmetics

"There is an air of elegance and sophisticated femininity with a youthful component.
Glowing skin combined with subtle, lustrous smokey eyes and cognac-stained lips
complement the feel of the collection in a soft, seductive manner. ”

—Uzo, NARS International Lead Makeup Stylist

“Rachel and Flora have created yet another immersive environment to showcase this
season’s collection. It’s this residential-feeling interior, with the clothing, furniture and
flooring all in nude. They’ve literally created a blank space for the colors and textures of the
accessories to stand out. We wanted the makeup to evoke this same feeling: clean and
dimensional with a single bold statement of color to “pop” against its backdrop.”

NARS Cosmetics announced the launch of its 2016 holiday collaboration with French fashion photographer, Sarah Moon. The NARS Sarah Moon Holiday Collection, created in collaboration with NARS Founder and Creative Director François Nars and Sarah Moon, invites consumers to explore a metropolis of modern femininity through delicate, ethereal imagery and products in a limited edition 25-sku collection.

The range, available in November 2016, will showcase innovative packaging with a play on frost and translucency as well as new, innovative product formulas and shades.
“Sarah is a poet, a sculptor, a painter. I have always been fascinated by her work for so many years. I love her vision of beauty, her sensibility, extreme perfectionism and refinement. Watching her taking pictures was a great lesson of life,” says François Nars

Sarah Moon, born in Vischey, France, began her career as a prominent fashion model in the 1960’s but like François Nars, her creativity and curiosity drew her to the other side of the camera. Her romantic, often dream-like photography has been featured in exhibitions in Paris, Kyoto, Japan and New York, as well as major fashion campaigns for Chanel, Dior and Comme des Garçons. Sarah draws inspiration from everything from Japanese fashion to books and silent films. She brings her love of modernity and tradition to the world of NARS and beauty.

“There is great trust, respect, and mutual admiration between us, it made it lovely to work together,” says Sarah Moon. “Also, he’s a photographer so he knows how fragile the process is. From the beginning to the end, it was a true collaboration.”

Ahhh, Take a Deep Breathe with Philosophy and Under Armour.

By Laura Medina

Can't complain about the glam slam trifecta of the Golden Globes, the Grammys, and the Oscar, the tent poles of Awards Season, but boy, it's an intense time that takes up your energy, time, and stamina.

Therefore, it isn't unusual for one's immune system to bust down that everyone this scribe knows, is weary, run-down, and sick with some sort of cold.

Seriously, it's time for post-recovery re-boot.

The collaborative launch of Philosophy's new oxygenating "Take a Deep Breathe" Collection and Under Armour's Breathe Bra..,and new mega-store opening at Americana at Brand outdoor mall in Glendale..,can't arrive at a better time, a week after Oscar Sunday.

What folks needed was a breathe of fresh air, whether it was a free, community yoga class with Omar Lopez then...

a post-work, refreshing facial cleansing and oxygenating facial that packs in fresh oxygen into the pores with Philosophy's new oxygen-rich "Take a Deep Breathe" collection and their revamped "The Microdelivery Detoxifying Oxygen Peel" Duo System, and their new sell-out hit, "Time in a Bottle" Serum.

Philosophy's "Take a Deep Breathe" cream-gel with oxygen is the latest arrival in the enriching but light-weight cream-gel category.  It breathes new life into tired, stressed skin. take a deep breath oil-free, oxygenating moisturizer restores and refreshes a dull, dry complexion suffering from effects of a busy lifestyle that can age skin. with exclusive clean-air technologyTM, skin receives the oxygen delivery it needs to breathe freely, while a patented blend of antioxidants and anti-pollutants helps neutralize damaging free radicals. skin is left feeling stronger and fresher, looking healthy and radiant.

There's more to post-recovery renewal than skin deep.  Your brain also needs a re-boot, thanks to the yoga class and mediation.

One in five adults experience mental illness in a given year, whether it be post-traumatic syndrome or the mental stress the majority of us experience on a daily basis.

This is when and why Philosophy and Under Armour hooked up together for #dontforgettobreathe,  for every photo shared on Instagram tagged with #dontforgettobreathe, philosophy will donate $1 up to $10,000 to the hope & grace initiative, philosophy’s mental health cause.

Marking the launch of philosophy’s take a deep breath oxygenating gel cream and the Under Armour Breathe Bra, the two wellbeing brands join forces to inspire a movement reminding women that breathing can change everything, so don’t forget to breathe.

Plus, one percent of all Philosophy US net sales will go into supporting mental health efforts.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_QymN_Z9FA&feature=youtu.be

The movement begins with a co-branded inspiration digital video featuring U.S. soccer gold medalist Kelley O’Hara and YouTube star Nikki Phillippi.

In the video, you'll watch Kelley's and Nikki's morning routine, prepping their skin with Philosophy's Take a Deep Breathe Cream-Gel moisturizer then working out in Under Armour's Breathe Bra.  Simple, effective, straight-up. Take charge.

2.   Anyone can join in and commemorate their own “take a deep breath moment” with the photo-generator at www.breathingchangeseverything.com.

After detoxing your spirit and system with yoga, airing out your pores with Philosophy's new oxygenating skincare, you have to replenish with a protein-packed brunch of ham & cheese croissant, yogurt-berry-granola, fresh fruit, fresh orange juice, and tea then relax with mimosas.

It's a way to give thanks to your brain and body for surviving and celebrating Awards Season.

Speaking of timing, soon after the yoga/facial/brunch, people trek around the corner to the opening of the new mega-"brick & mortar" Under Armour store at Americana at Brand in Glendale to check out and get new Under Armour gear.

This was this scribe's first step in a Spring time tune-up, new body, new skin, new skincare, and new active-wear.

A new you for a new season.
