Killing two birds with one stone, Billy Bob Thornton celebrated with holidays with photographer, Timothy White and the Sunset Marquis's Christmas Party.

Among the jam-packed crowd was Julian Lennon and Downtown Julie Brown and Kathy Bates, Billy's "Bad Santa" co-star.

On Thursday, December 15th, the pouring rain in West Hollywood didn't stop the love at Morrison Hotel Gallery and the Sunset Marquis Hotel.

Friends, fans and famous faces were all there to celebrate photographer and gallery co-owner 

Timothy White's exhibit opening and to enjoy the hotel's huge holiday celebration, hosted by long-time friend of White's, Billy Bob Thornton.

The exhibit, featuring just a small selection of an incredible catalog of work from White, includes a never-before-seen image of Robin Williams from a photo shoot for The Bird Cage, photographs of Jay Z, Elizabeth Taylor, Sharon Stone and a Bad Santa, Billy Bob Thornton - which he signed in person at the party - among others. Timothy photographed both posters for the Bad Santa movies, among hundreds of other movie posters in his career.

Hosted by Mr. White's long-time friend, Billy Bob Thornton, the holiday celebration included live music in 3 areas of the hotel, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and a super exclusive VIP carving station.

 

White has photographed the movie posters for Bad Santa and Bad Santa 2, which opened November 23rd, along with several other posters for Miramax films. 

 

The soiree took place all over the hotel - in the restaurants, café and bar with live music, dancers and a Santa Clause. At one point, the entire crowd at Bar 1200 were singing "Tiny Dancer" at the top of their lungs, along with the band.

Joining the celebration were Timothy White's close friends, Julian Lennon, Kathy Bates, Tony Cox, Debbie Carrington, Dwight Yoakam, Downtown Julie Brown and Johnny Galecki among others.

The Sunset Marquis' restaurant has an inner private lounge, where it was burlesque and jazz galore, along side ham and beef buffet and hot apple cider/dessert buffet.

Billy Bob Thornton and the Sunset Marquis can really throw it down.

Being a former journalist and Havard fellowship fellow, Matthew McConaughey's co-star in "Gold," Edgar Ramirez hosted the Christmas party charity event, Angels on Earth at the Sunset Tower Hotel.  The UNICEF goodwill ambassador and He for She partner helped encourage guests to sign up for a volunteer beach cleanup initiative with Heal The Bay on February 18, 2017, giving them the chance to become "Angels" themselves. Ex-San Diego Charger, Shawne Merriman said the apparel business is tougher than football.

In football, you can tackle the guy to get your point across.  In the apparel business, you can't.

The company itself was formed ten years. It  just t-shirts and jeans.  When I retired from football, I decided to buy the company and renamed it with my nickname.

Last night, with Toys for Tots, he made his first retail debut at Brigade LA, the hip lifestyle/souvenior shop within J.W. Marriot Downtown Los Angeles.

Ludo Lefebvre Roasts Rack of Lamb at WestEdge Design Fair, thanks to Fisher & Paykel

New Zealand cooking appliance company, Fisher & Paykel really outdid themselves.

First, they redid Chef Ludo Lefebvre's home kitchen.  Ludo was never an electric stove and oven fan.  But thanks to Fisher & Paykel, they converted him.

At the recent, past West Edge Design Festival, Ludo returned the favor by pan-roasting a rack of lamb with the simplest of ingredients.  It's all techniques.  The magic is in the fingers and hands.

Fisher & Paykel also did an outdoor grill with a bed of seaweed, roasting miso sauced grilled oysters.  One of the many "fountain of youth," because of the zinc.

There are times the stars shift, especially during the holidays; and that makes them special.

Well, the stars had churned this past Tuesday night.

The night started with Church Key celebrating their third year in business, which is pretty healthy in the trendy restaurant business.

Then second, Tuesday was when this twenty-first, Millennial psychedelic trip-hip hopper, "Childish Gambino" dropped his album on iTunes then celebrated the launch at a very intellectual, civilized Questions & Answers at Microsoft Lounge (the home of the future) with Childish Gambino's true identity, the young Lando Calrissian, a.k.a. "ALT" Donald Glover.  Yes, Donald Glover is turning into such a Renaissance Man that he has to split his musical identity away from his acting identity.

Though, this scribe, during holiday mind-warping craziness, wishes that Donald Glover would stick to his real name through-out his artist/career endeavors, so it'll be easier to track and archive while cheering him on.

First, let's fuel up...

The way things work biologically, is thirst first.

Church Key's one-night-only Jamberrie was specially created for their third-year birthday.  This busy scribe was happy to learn you can do many things with leftover jam and jelly and some tequila and soda water.  This will make a great holiday punch.

Sure, there was calorie-conscious, tapas-portioned bites of Bacon Jam Grilled Cheese Sandwiches...

Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice with Ponzo Sauce...

These were mere warm-ups to the real star of Church Key's third birthday.

Their star ultra-crunchy, honey sweet Fried Chicken n' Waffles...Oh, this scribe fueled up on two plates of this specialty.  With so much food on so short of time and with food waste guilt, the staff is kind and considerate enough to doggy bag the minor tapas, so you can focus on wolfing up the main meal, before seeing Donald Glover's musical alter ego, Childish Gambino, all the way at Microsoft Lounge in Abbot Kinney.

Even though Microsoft Lounge is a home of the future, built entirely with Microsoft home technology, it's a bungalow built like an industrial loft with a dream stain-less steal appliances.

Hipster Baby Boomers and weary but established Gen-Xers were pleasantly shocked two days prior that trip-hop hip artist, Childish Gambino was and is Donald Glover making an official musical drop of his full album on iTunes on this recent Tuesday.

But his core Millennial fans already know who Childish Gambino is and jam-packed the heck out of Microsoft Lounge bungalow, to watch and hear Donald Glover speak about him being Childish Gambino.

It wasn't even a mini-concert.  Remember, it's Microsoft.  They bring Childish Gambino's psychedelic Zulu Warrior to you.

Smart phones are bringing back the View Masters.  Instead of clicking slides, they're now watching portable tv screenings to better watch your shows on your phones.

The lucky guests were transported to Childish Gambino's first official live concert in the California desert.

With Microsoft edging deeper in music video effects and live concerts, this wasn't surprising.

Microsoft's collaboration with Donald Glover/Childish Gambino and the back-up DJs,  Wolf + Rothstein, was called PHAROS.

Cheers to you, Donald Glover, the Millennial Renaissance Man. From being the young Lando Calrissian to being just casted in another revamped "Spider Man" to your hit "ALT" to expanding into music as performance artist/trip-hip hop/Psychadelic "Childish Gambino."

Paraphasing the late, great Prince, he's a little Red Corvette who needs to slow down so the rest of us can catch up with him.
