Fitness instructor, Lacey Stone and fashion promoter, Mikey Koffman, helped Angeleno Magazine kickstart June as Pride Month.
There has been some love, as well as some controversy regarding social progress and acceptance.
This is what LA Magazine's Pride Brunch was all about. Gathering together for a lavish brunch, gay luminaries threw a Questions & Answers panel about the history, the current state, and the future of LGBT+Q community.
George Takai was tremendously graceful talking about him and his family being thrown into Japanese-American concentration.camps, based on racism, then having to restart in Boyle Heights. That's when his awareness happened, not only for him, but for other boys, too.
Another gay panelist, talked about normalizing being LGBT+Q, because focusing on differences, stereotypes, and ignorance are what fuel segregation.
What started in one night, moved to one afternoon then grew into one week then it morphed into one month, but it'll never get complacent.
